Last week Topshop showed London and the world the international, hip fashions of tomorrow, and what American fashionistas should expect as the store comes to NYC.

Top of the Shelf Topshop

Topshop previewed its Topshop Unique Spring 2009 line this past week in its hometown of London during Fashion Week.  The Unique brand presented a solid show of faded color and exaggerated bows.  This show helped to kick off an amazing week of decadent duds in this bustling hub for all things new and exciting. Topshop Unique has received a fair amount of criticism for its show, but I found the whole thing to be outstanding.  Aside from that, this label is known for delivering an accurate fashion forecast for the future of women’s fashions.  I believe that their use of retro-cut pants, pyramid-style tunics, and feminized mechanics’ jumpsuits made for a clairvoyant and exciting approach to the female prowess and form.

Western-inspired swimwear...Clothing bedazzled in sequins giving a shout out to "London"...Utilitarian pockets and monochromatic themed outfits...Militaristic-turned-psychedelic eyewear...Exaggerated bows that play off the reintroduction of French fashion and glamour into the urban wear scene.

Online Loving

I've heard about Topshop for years now.  Celebrities have always been photographed dropping hundreds of pounds at Topshop during weekend getaways to London. Like H&M, The Arcadia Group and their reinvented Topshop have taken their sweet time in coming stateside.  As Perez Hilton reported to us just a few days ago, the United States' fashion scene is on pins and needles for the upcoming opening of the New York City Topshop store on Broadway.  If you can't wait, or if like me, you couldn't be further away from the City, not to fret! Topshop has already launched their online store, and now we are finally allowed to see just what all the chatter is about.
