Spotlight: The Straw Hat

The classic straw hat has been updated for Summer and the trend is all the rage. If you're going for that effortless-rocker chic look this season, then the straw hat should definitely be an addition to your outfit. The cool thing about this trend is that there is a plethora of styles to choose from. I'm digging the straw-fedora style.

This is a campaign against plain and lack luster straw hats (see my dad's golf hat). I found the above hat at urbanoutfitters.com on sale for $14.99. They're carrying a couple similar styles on their website. This summer's styles are also coming adorned with button details, ribbons and are available in several rich summer colors. Upon researching this article, I came across Ugg's straw hat (pictured below, $79), which I surprisingly love despite my hate for their boots. In this instance, their product is not so ugg-ly.

If you're also looking for a little sun protection at the beach or a concert, then the larger, floppier-style straw hat may be your cup of tea. You can protect your beautiful face, but still look and stay cool by wearing the trend. I found the below style at Nordstrom.com by Juicy Couture for $85.

Celebrities such as Rachel Bilson, Kirsten Dunst, and Jessica Alba have been photographed in the fedora-style straw hats and Ray-Ban sunglasses all summer. Anyone else having fun with this summer trend?

Ooh, I love the urban outfitters hat ... very cute, and the fedora's a much more practical way to wear a straw hat. I've got a wider-brimmed one, and I love it but it's so ultra-beach that I'd feel foolish walking down the street in it. I save it for vacation and poolside.
