Sheryl Crow isn't a celebrity whose name is often associated with fashion, but she is a celeb I've always liked.  "My Favorite Mistake" is my jam, and nowadays I get "Love is Free" stuck in my head as well.  While I dig her spirit and attitude, I've never felt the urge to emulate her style, so I was surprised to hear that Crow has launched her own line of denim this month.  Along with her signature bootcut jeans, named for Missouri's 'boot heel' region where she was born, Bootheel Trading Company offers affordable jeans (under $100) along with vests and t-shirts. 

Said Sheryl of her look and inspiration, "I have an incredible amount of vintage that I've collected over the years. My style is very Americana. I gravitate to pieces that are American by nature, either western or Depression-era."

While some of the pieces are admittedly as country as you would expect, I was surpised to find a few pieces that I actually love...

This slightly sheer Printed Tee is a little bit country but feels mostly rock 'n roll to me.  I truly would not be surprised to see something similar on Kate Moss with a pair of skinnies and black boots.

This Drawstring Tunic is adorable and versatile.  While I don't like the mom look over loose jeans as shown, I think this top would look amazing over skinnies or leggings, and with a belt around a high waist or topped with a vest.  I would wear this with a long pendant necklace and a black bra.

Buttoned up or rocked loose, this vest would look great over a long tank or an oversized tee the way Blake Lively wears her vest (not from Crow's line) here.

As far as the actual jeans, I'm honestly not a fan.  I love the detailing on the back, but the fit is questionable.  Sheryl Crow did say, though, that she created the line so that her friends could buy affordable jeans.  Sheryl is 46, so her denim is probably perfect for them!   The rest of us youngsters can stock up on her tees and vests to pair with the skintight skinnies already in our closets.
