The cowl scarf was referred to as a "mini trend" on Punky Style, who provided several Etsy links for oversized cowl scarves (Knits shown above from rachel fixed), and I can't wait to snuggle into one of these whether running errands on a cold day or cozied up on my couch. Let's face it; hoodies are rarely stylish, and a cowl scarf can be paired with a tailored blazer or cute bomber jacket, wrapped around your head on a rainy day. Or just slip on with your comfiest top for a little comfort without the fuss of a turtleneck.

Urban Outfitters and Free People sell cowl scarves with drawstrings. The Fair Isle Cowl from UO sells for $38 while the Crosstown Cable Hood ($48) has fuzzy poms and doubles as a hood.

This Dena Fur Rabbit Fur Cowl Collar is gorgeous, but as the owner of two pet chinchillas, it makes me wanna go PETA on someone. I'll be on the lookout for a fake fur version of this look to satisfy my current fur obsession.
You can also wrap your standard long scarf around and tuck the edges to create a bulky cowl effect. Wear the look with lighter or heavier material based on the weather where you live.
