6126 is not just the last four digits of my very first cell phone number.  It is also the birthdate of Marilyn Monroe, and the name of Lindsay Lohan's new line of leggings.

"I love to wear leggings, so it should come as no surprise that my first venture into the world of fashion design is with leggings!" said Lohan on her MySpace blog.

Linds launched her holiday line officially yesterday, Monday the 13th, at fave store Henri Bendel in NY.  A percentage of yesterday's sales went to benefit ovarian cancer.

This is Lindsay Lohan's second line of leggings.  The first, sold at Fred Segal and online at Intuition, sold out within a week of their July 2008 launch.

Says Lohan, "Our holiday collection is pretty eclectic from gold zippers to leather detailing, to buttery soft cashmere. I hope you enjoy the collection as much as I enjoyed making it.”

Some reporters joked that this look (probably due to wearing ankle boots on a sunny day) could have been a promotion for her line, as her tanned legs resemble leggings.

Personally, I think Lindsay is fierce, and while I think leggings by Lohan is sort of a boring project, I do think these will sell out as they have in the past.

With all of the hype various leggings are still getting, I can't help but wonder if leggings will replace basic nylons as a timeless fashion staple rather than the trend I think we all assumed it would be.  As leggings are showing up more opaque and able to be worn on their own (in lieu of other bottoms), they might even stick around as pants in their own right.  What are your thoughts?
