Okay, so when leggings came back and gladiator sandals hit the scene I was a skeptic. But as both items evolved greatly in a short amount of time, I embraced them. But leotards?! Madonna and the Pussycat Dolls, I expect it from, but apparently Beyonce (or should I say "Sasha Fierce") has made them her unofficial uniform. Seriously though, single ladies, if you want to put a ring on it, don't leave home without your pants.
Not only has Beyonce been using the same choreography from her music video in pretty much every live performance since (i.e. both spoof and musical guest duties on SNL, the Today Show, and American Music Awards), she has been opting for a variety of body suits. Similar looks have been sported by the likes of Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera. Even JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE couldn't resist the call of the leotard.

1. Perhaps it's to show everyone that she's lost all the weight she gained to star as Etta James in the upcoming movie Cadillac Records (she doesn't look zaftig so much as healthy).
2. She's sending subliminal messages to directors casting the next super hero movie.
3. She's making sure there are no baby rumors floating around.
But given that we've been bombarded with many an undergarment-inspired costume change, I'm afraid she single-handedly played this look out in less than a month. In any case, Beyonce, we get it -- you're skinny and working the leotard. Now it's time to grab some pants -- and no, leggings are not pants.
I will most definitely not be attempting the leotard look at the club -- unless I'm wearing it under my clothes as Spanx.
Does anyone else find it awkward how obviously SAME all these outfits are?

I love the leotard thing! I love that fashion houses are incorporating it. I think Beyonce is dead-on with the turtleneck leotard and the one shoulder leotard and her more formal well-tailored leotards. Plus it's easier to feel sassy and move well on stage in one. I'm gonna' get some to wear under my clothes and bring out my inner Beyonce. Inspiring! :-)
Recently ballet has gone back to the basics. Although some ballerinas may occasionally wear warm-ups, basic leotards and tights are becoming more popular in the dance studios. If ballet students do wear any warm-ups, it is most likely warm-up shorts.
Looking for a new pair of Ballet shoes then it's a good idea to have a look on the web as there are many companies that provide dance accessories and apparel on the internet. When you are buying your new ballet shoes try and go for a company that has a website with a returns policy, this way you will be more confident that you will be dealing with the right kind of company.
Michael Jackson probably updated his Xmas wish list as soon as he saw that robot glove!
Oh my god. This article = hilarious. Thank you so much for introducing me to the robot glove too.
haha! I love your theories! Honestly I don't think she looks that great in her video. Yuck.
Great post! This further confirms my early post about leggings being warn as pants - gag me! I don't know what Beyonce is thinking, but it's not pretty even if she does have a solid curvy body.
LOLOL
I think Beyonce is *absolutely* trying to prove her body looks good.
I like the look on Christina Aguilera - it seems to mesh very well with her retro glam looks. And Britney Spears' outfit with the red top isn't even a leotard. I like the whole Katy Perry thing with the high-waisted bottoms and think that's totally different than a leotard. I tried a leotard from F21 a couple years ago and it was *so* annoying to wear. But really the point is that things that are OK for costumes/performances aren't OK for street clothes.
I think leggings can be pants if they are the *right* leggings, worn with a long top (but not necessarily one long enough to be a dress), and if you aren't fat.
