Have you noticed a shocking amount of floral making its way into stores these days? Or maybe it's just one store, but it is surprising none the less. I was walking through the mall today and literally stopped and stared at The Limited's store windows. If I hadn't just bought a coffee from Starbucks because I was so cold, I might have been convinced it was the height of summer! The Limited it pushing its Cabin Fever look, telling customers to "escape to a new fashion fahrenheit." I'm not sure I'm really feeling the frilly, thin, light pink, floral pieces they are pushing. Most of these I wouldn't even consider 'holiday' dresses. And they aren't on the clearance racks stuffed in the back. They are displayed front and center as if the tulips were sprouting.
Here are a couple pics of their latest products. What do you all think? Will you be making the 'escape' or sticking with the cold-weather ware? Or maybe you'll wait till they hit the clearance racks and stock up for the summer.

I know... it is so weird. I can't imagine these are selling well.
This is bizarre to me. While florals are definitely in for fall (see Michael Kors' Fall runway pieces), these pieces appear to be made in lightweight, spring/summer fabrics, which just doesn't make sense. I have no idea how I'd wear this stuff, unless it's meant to be "resort wear."
I don't know where these dresses would actually be pratical for fall, Florida perhaps? What this does remind me of is how Lucky magazine is always saying layer turtlenecks and other long sleeve layers under your sleeveless or short sleeved dresses and/or put long cardigans or short leather jackets over them. Again if you are in Florida or LA this might work but in the rest of the country I just don't know.
The prints/colors are fine with me--flowers in the winter, why not?. But if stores are showing us strapless and sundress numbers, they won't be prying any dollars out of my tight fists this season. I don't have any plans to get away to a tropical resort, so I'll be stocking up on New England winter staples--turtlenecks, sweaters, etc.
