Elle magazine is among major fashion rags to have sister-issues in Asia. Asian fashion magazines tend to show more Asian models and focus on their skin and hair issues. Fashion and beauty magazines are numerous in Hong Kong and easy to find at newsstands along many city streets.
In September, Elle Hong Kong also released a special issue: Fashion Trends Fall-Winter 2008/09. It features fashion, accessory and makeup trends for the coming season. Among Fashion Trends headings are “Fur Ever,” “Romantic Ruffles,” “Knitting Queen,” and “Eastern Folk”.
“Mysterious Lace” highlights lace accents on boots and as inserts in clothing. My favorite is a
Dolce & Gabbana lace skirt paired with a striped knit top.
Another category, “College Girls,” shows schoolboy blazers and plaid accents of red, blue and gold. The looks are trendier and more fashion-savvy than the school uniforms worn by most Hong Kong students.
Under Accessory Trends, the special issue features “Stay High,” a photo montage of stiletto and platform heels, and “The New Silhouette,” more photos of boho, baguette and classic-style leather handbags. Beauty Trends includes “Natural Style” and “Face Art.”
Elle.com.hk, the Web site shown here in the photo, has sections on runway, fashion, accessories, beauty, and decoration. It also teases to the new October issue of Elle Hong Kong, including a story on 620+ Fall Winter Hot Items.
According to
Wikipedia, Elle is the world's largest fashion magazine, with 39 international editions in more than 60 countries.
