As long as the warm weather continues, sandals look great paired with your shortest shorts. Unless you are literally standing on sand, however, I believe you can do better than rubber flip-flops. A heel - even just a short one - is ideal, as it instantly places your exposed legs at their most flattering angle. A heeled sandal is also a great way to hang onto the gladiator trend if you're still riding it, or just to add some bling to your feet. Sparkly straps are the new anklets.

Heels are great with short shorts whether it's a classic pump or a heel with more interesting detail. Jessica Simpson works a comfty ensemble with edgy peep-toe heels. The added height and delicate detailing keep this otherwise casual look from looking dumpy. Rachel Bilson's heels are fairly basic in a neutral shade, but the front strap draws the eye.

Mischa Barton wears her shorts with a high waist and basic pair of jet black pumps - simple and sleek. Lindsay Lohan's Mary Janes keep her laidback flannel looking classy.
Boots are my favorite shoe to pair with short shorts. It's easier to pull off than boots with a mini and is sexy yet edgy and sophisticated.

Tall boots are a favorite of Kate Moss, who uses them to elevate jean shorts & a basic white tank to a rocker level. Fergie looks a bit haggard here and I don't care for that bag with this outfit, but the boot-shorts combo is fierce. Whether you are rocking a baggy tank like Kate or layered tops in the style of the Dutchess, staying covered up on top is key for keeping your mini shorts sexy rather than skanky.

Shorter boots are my #1 pick for short shorts. Ashlee Simpson completes a super casual outfit with an ankle boot. I also love the short boot look with black tights as worn here by Gwen Stefani.
