A Fashion No-No

Now that the winter season has officially kicked into high gear, with snow on the ground and freezing temperatures, I am seeing more and more of an ultimate fashion NO-NO!
Please, ladies, leggings and tights are not, should never be, will never be and can never be pants!! Don’t wear them as such. Nobody wants to see every little curve, dip and nuance of your lower body. And everything is extra accented when you wear your leggings as pants and then walk around - a site to behold! UGH. It was only cute when we were three years old. 
Now don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of leggings. I wear them all the time and own a number of different colors and patterns. Worn correctly they are a great fashion accessory. But that is what we need to keep in mind. Leggings are an accessory. They are not ‘official’ clothing!
So wear them with a long sweater, a cute short winter dress or a skirt. Wear them tucked into boots or with killer heels. Wear them in bold colors, animal-print designs or just plain black. But do not wear them as pants. You just look silly.
Sorry for the little rant, but I saw probably 25 people in the mall this weekend in this attire and most of which I got the feeling were under the impression they looked dang good. *cough* Um, No! *cough*

I think if your sweater hits mid-thigh or longer that should be fine. But if you can see any of your but, or even hint at it - that's a no-no!!!
How long does the sweater have to be? I like to wear leggings with a long black turtleneck and a buttoned cardigan sweater that hits mid-thigh. But that's with serious, thick, Ann Taylor leggings.
My favorite leggings no-no sighting happened last year leaving a USC football game. This girl totally thought she was wearing leggings as pants which would have been bad enough, except that she had tights on and everyone could totally see her thong!! And to make matters worse she was with a whole bunch of "friends" - I still can't believe no one told her.
AMEN, sister!
My biggest peeve is flip-flops with legwarmers (yes, I've seen it, multiples times, and even on mannequins at Hollister, wtf), but leggings as pants is a super close 2nd.
