Asia Inspired

An innovative and funky store in Hong Kong has perfected the Chinese-style dress, known as the qipao or cheongsam. Goods of Desire stores make the dress in fun prints and lightweight knits, instead of the traditional embroidered silks.

Qipaos, with their mandarin collars and diagonal bodice closures are actually very comfortable, similar to wearing the popular shift dresses. Goods of Desire, or GOD for short, also make tunic- and shirt-length variations of the dress. The one shown in the photo above is a dress, with yellow, contrast fabric inside the collar.

GOD stores also sell Delay No More brand T-shirts with Chinese characters and sayings. The merchandise is available by order online. About a year ago, GOD opened Delay No Mall, which features a Delay No More shop, plus other boutiques selling garments by Hong Kong designers.

You don’t have to be in Asia to wear Asian-inspired clothes.
