When I have big zit, I feel like anything but cover-up and powder just draws attention to my face with a bit zit on it. Right? Wrong?

That's interesting--just leave alone and make up other features to draw attention from it. I'll try it next time I get a zit. Of course, if I have a monster honker then I just want to wear a paper bag over my head and call it a day;)
If I ever get a zit, I just let it breath. When I try to cover it up, it just brings more attention to it I think. I just got over it with my routine stuff, some Bobbi Brown foundation on the cheeks followed by a blush. and I make up my eyes and lips to draw attention away.
there's nothing wring with covering your zit just do it with a make-up sponge or brush. The make-up isn't going to hurt it or cause more breakouts but he bacteria form your hands will, so keep your fingers off! Also try a green foundation (clinique has a great one) just on the affected area(s) Green is opposite Red on the color wheel, which means it will neutralize the red and basically make your pimple disappear! Another little tip: if you have dark circles, put yellow eye shadow on them. This works in the same way.
Personally, for me, when I have a big ol planet on my face, I cover it with pressed powder and try my hardest not to touch it. A zit begins weeks before it appears, so as long as you wash your face at night and make sure to clean the area, covering it shouldn't make it worse. Just be careful with the cover up, because the only thing that looks worse than a zit is a zit you can tell is being covered up.
Thanks for the advice. I'm sure that I've overdone the cover-up on more than one occasion. I'm also wondering if it's better to skip the other make-up (lipstick, eye make-up,etc.) during breakouts. I just feel like make-up doesn't look nice unless my skin is clear.
It can go either way. =( If its overdone, then yes -- it could end up looking worse. Most people make the mistake of trying to shrink the pimple with their make up...yanno cover up the raised skin as opposed to concealing the redness. This seems to be how most women get way too much make up on a zit. Heck, I've done it myself! lol Instead, try putting some haemorrhoid ointment on it (before you go to bed and again when you first get up -- this helps reduce the swelling and redness, as well works to dry the zit out), and right before you put your make up on, hold an ice cube or cold spoon on the pimple to help reduce swelling. Then, aim to conceal the redness with your make up. You might invest in a green concealer which can also help camouflage some of the redness. =)
