How do I cover really stubborn under eye circles?

undereye circles.JPG

I have always had under eye circles, but as I've gotten older, they're harder to cover.  I've tried a bunch of foundations and concealers, but they don't blend well with my skin like they used to. Now you can really see that I've got make-up on, and you still see the shadows. I feel like it really ages my look. What to do??

I learned this one in beauty school, and it has saved many a sleepless bride in my professional make-up aps. Use yellow eye shadow. It cancels out the purple in your dark circles. I know it sounds ridiculous but it works! Max Fator and MAC both make great yellows with alot of pigment

I haven't heard of Topaz, I don't think. But $2 for something that works for your sounds like it's worth a try. Thanks.

I don't use an eye cream, and I have dark circles. What I've been using is a dark creamy stick concealer by Topaz. It's a cheap drugstore brand--about $2. I blend it in with a sponge. Sometimes I use Mary-Kay's liquid signature highlighter. It's their version of YSL Touche Eclat (sp?). Both do a good job. I also started using brighter shadow on my lids, sort of a bait-n-switch. No one can see my circles if they're looking up.

Aveda has a great eye creme-Tourmaline Charged Eye Creme. It helps with dark circles. I get compliments all the time about my under eye region. When you use any eye creme in the a.m. though be sure to give it PLENTY of time to soak in or your makeup is going to slide off. Heres a link and you can read the reviews at the bottom: http://www.aveda.com/templates/products2/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY11...

I haven't tried it yet but benefit just came out with Powderlage-heres a review: http://www.musingsofamuse.com/2008/08/benefit-powderflage-review.html

In order to paint you first need a clean canvas..same with your face. First, cleanse, pat dry and rest. then moisture. alot. near the eyes. then take 15 -20 min and a bit more moisturize..let it soak in.. then use a concealer if you have one if not mix some lighter foundation with the moisturizer and using a nice thin boar bristle brush dot on like a painting. blend blend blend...Till it looks like you had a great nights sleep. If I have been sick or just not sleeping and need to look great.. I start this procedure like one hour before I start my other things. ( eyes, hair etc )

That Erase Paste works, huh? I love Benefit but I've tried the Boi-ing concealer, which is supposed to be "industrial strength," and it doesn't do the job at all. It's very dry and thick and looks cakey. But maybe I'll try out the Erase Paste at Sephora if I can get myself over there. Thanks.

Benefit's Erase Paste is beyond amazing. It's a brightening concealer, so it not only covers but also helps to reflect light. When I've had a really late night, I apply regular concealer followed by Erase Paste.

And, no, I'm not currently using any eye cream. The last one that I tried was Origins Night-A-Mins. It didn't do much for the dark circles but it did irritate my eyes, and I'm pretty sure that it caused a break out or two in the area just below.

Thanks, Suze. I will look into those products. And yeah, I never drink enough water. Must get into the habit.

Are you using eye cream at all? There are lots of good eye creams out there these days that not only moisturize but brighten the eye area. I use Olay Total Effects Eye Transforming Cream night and day, and it helps a lot. Then I pat on the tiniest amount of Revlon Age Defying Concealer just on the inner half of the undereye circle. Finally, I drink tons of water every day. There's a definite connection between hydration and good skin. Good luck!
