Maybe it's time to take advice from a 4th grader.
Alec Greven, a fourth-grader at Soaring Hawk Elementary School in Castle Rock, Colo., began writing the book "How to Talk to Girls" — about the dos and don'ts of dating — when he was 8 years old.
It started as a school writing assignment, but was later "published" for his school's book fair. At $3 a pop, it became a Soaring Hawk best seller. From there, it went to the next logical place: a book publisher. Which means that Alec, age 9, is now doing press tours all over the country telling adults how they can score at love. Interesting.
Alec on the best way to talk to a girl: "You want to walk up casually — you can't look shy or nervous, like you're doing something really important. Just say 'Hi.' If she says 'Hi' back, you're off to a good start. What you want to do is let the girl do most of the talking, start off asking about stuff she likes to do and then let her talk. If you mess up, it's not good. If the girl messes up, it's OK."
Alec on why pretty girls are bad news: "Well, pretty girls … all they care about is their looks. She doesn't care about a boy liking her, or how a boy feels about her. It's just, 'Oh, do I look nice?' Regular girls can be pretty, too. Plus, a regular girl has other things on her mind and is fun to be around."
If you want to read more tips from the less-than-10 lothario, Today Show has a full interview. And while I understand (or seriously, seriously hope), this is all for silly fun & games...honey, if you're reading this? We're fine, ok? Just...don't.
