Sports jokes aside, it appears that shin-guard-like pieces will be affixed to currently common shoe styles including platform wedges, gladiator heels, and flats. This style will probably be worn with close-fitting or leg-baring garments such as sporty mini dresses, oversized shirt dresses, and even skinny jeans, which don’t seem to be leaving the scene any time soon.
This shin guard trend is new. So new, in fact, that it has only appeared on Resort 2009 couture runways thus far. These runway photos are proof that fashionable chin guards are on their way in and are not just a figment of my style imagination (or nightmares).

I’m curious to know what you fashion junkies and/or sports fans think about this upcoming fashion trend. Whether or not shin guard shoes will make Spring/Summer 2009 Ready-to-Wear collections, time will tell. If they do, and trickle down to your local Saks or even Macy’s stores, would you wear them?

We can't have any skin showing, so we wear the thickest sweat shirts and sweat pants we can find under these pads. Some of the less well padded (ie. skinny) guys like me wear two layers of sweats. The straps are long enough to go around the arm and leg even over these clothes.
a twitter buddy sent me this link, check out Rihanna's extreme shin guard shoes! http://photo.wenn.com/index.php?action=preview&id=3493228&session_id=u0g...
Uh...I totally want to say something inappropiate regarding the shin guard look, but I'll try to remain ladylike and say it is a BIG DON'T!!
why do I feel I need these!? I dunno what I would even wear them with
You totally ripped these images from Trend de la Creme.

You should give them credit somewhere in your post.
Oh.... but they're so perfect for klutzes like me! No more "How'd you get that black & blue" mark?" that I can never answer!
The pic with the yellow circle around it... I think that could catch on. I could see Forever 21 mimicking that style with primarily fabric chin cards that tie or have elastic around.
