I just signed up, and I didn't get my confirmation email

  1. Be sure to check your SPAM or Junk Mail Folder!
  2. If you don't receive our confirmation after a couple hours, add SparkleShelf@SparkleShelf.com to your address book, then log in to your account, go to the "Edit Account" tab, and click the "Resend Validation Email" link
  3. If you forgot the password you registered with, click here to request a new password

How do I add a profile picture?

  1. Log in
  2. Go to your Profile Page
  3. Click the tab "Edit Account"
  4. Scroll down and you'll see "Picture" and an upload form to upload your pic
  5. That's it!

I changed my profile picture but the old one still shows up

This is probably due to your browsers' cache setting. Here are some things you can do:

  1. Try quitting your browser, reopen it and view your profile page. The new photo should show up
  2. If you know how, clear the "cache" in your browser settings

I can't find a product I want to review

If you searched for a product, and didn't find it on our site, you can add a new product to review:

  1. Log in
  2. Fill out the Add Product Form to add a new product
  3. Add your review as a comment
  4. Done!

How do I know if someone answered my Sparkle Question?

  • You will receive an email notifications each time someone has answered a question.
  • You can also view the number of answers on your Profile Page, under the Sparkle Answers section. Click on your question to read answers.

What are Sparkle Points?

The more stuff you DO, the more points you earn!  Once you reach a certain number of points, you will gain access to even cooler stuff on the site.

What is Sparkle Swap?

Sparkle Swap is a great way to trade, sell and buy stuff from other members within the Sparkle*Shelf community.  The advantage is that it is a very focused group of like-minded members who are often looking for similar styles and products. So share the love! All those clothes you don't wear, or the eyeshadow you never use, swap it, sell it, or find it on Swap!

Some great ideas for Swapping are:

  • Prom & Formal: Swap last year's dress with someone else's and save money on formal wear
  • Holiday: Just like prom, we have formal dresses we won't wear again, so swap it with someone else's fabulous gown!
  • Halloween:  Do you have costumes from years past collecting dust? Swap it and get some good ideas from other members.
  • Seasonal:  Tired of your wardrobe? Get something new on the cheap. Clean out your closet and trade with other members.
  • Makeup & Beauty:  Have you bought countless items that you don't use? Makeup that didn't work for you? Well swap it, someone else is likely to love that product.

How do I start swapping?

You must be a member to swap (join now). 

  1. Add your items that you'd like to swap.
  2. Browse Sparkle*Swap for stuff you like.
  3. Contact the member to suggest a swap,  or wait for someone to contact you.

Can I sell stuff?

Yes!  When you add your items check the box next to "SELL" and list a price. You must work out payment details with the member, we suggest using PayPal.

What do those icons mean in the Swap Listings?

These small icons indicate whether the member wants to SWAP or SELL their item.

= Member wants to SWAP their item

= Member wants to SELL their item

What's the process for making a swap/puchase/sale with another member?

Once you find an item you'd like to swap or puchase, here are the basic steps:

  1. Write to the member by clicking the "Suggest a Swap" button on the item page, and let them know you are interested, and what your swap offer is (or if you'd like to buy)
  2. They will reply accepting, or offering a differernt swap
  3. Once you have agreed upon the swap, ask for the member's address and ship the item asap so they can enjoy their new stuff!
  4. If you purchased an item, send them payment via PayPal (or other payment terms you agreed upon)
  5. Once you have agreed upon a Swap, EDIT your item and select "I swapped this item!" under "Swap Item Status"
  6. Finally, add feedback on the member's profile page about the swap experience so others know if they are a great swapper!

How do I remove my item after it has been swapped?

After you have confirmed your swap, click the EDIT tab on your item and select "I swapped this item!" under "Swap Item Status"

If for any reason you want to permanently delete the swap item, EDIT your item, then click the delete button at the bottom of the page.

How do I pay for a swap item?

You must work out payment with the seller directly. We suggest using PayPal for quick convenience.

Can I swap/sell used makeup or beauty products?

Absolutely! Just make sure that you are very clear and honest about the condition of the item, and the degree to which it has been used.

We do however recommend that you not swap used mascara or lip products, as it is unsanitary.  Feel free to list your unused mascara or lip products though!

How do I ship an item that I swapped?

You can ship the items whatever way is convenient for you. We suggest US Priority Mail or First Class for convenience and lowest cost.

What if I don't receive the item I paid for or swapped?

We're deeply sorry if this does happen, but we know the Sparkle*Shelf community is 99.9% full of trusting honest gals!

Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Contact the member via email or private message and nicely ask about the status, it's possible they didn't ship the item right away, or it is taking a long time to deliver.
  2. If you don't get a reply, also try contacting them on other Social Networks they listed on their profile page (such as MySpace, LinkedIn, Facebook, or a personal blog).
  3. If you used PayPal, contact PayPal support to see if they can help.
  4. Feel free to write to us, and we'll do our best to get in contact with the member and see if we help in any way.
  5. If all fails and you don't get a reply, unfortunately Sparkle*Shelf is not responsible for insuring or reimbursing transactions.
    However please let us know the situation so we can remove the violating member account, and warn other members in the community.

We are proud of our fabulous members and hope situations like this are few and far between.
