WWD Picks 8 Beauty Trends of 2009

If you're not a subscriber to Women's Wear Daily, you'll be pleased to know I've swiped my cubicle mate's copy in order to bring you the magazine's  expose on the Eight Trends That Will Define Beauty In 2009.

Ladies, are you ready for your glimpse into the Future of Beauty?

High Impact Makeup Colors

Bold colors for lips, eyes and cheeks are going to be all the rage.  Which is fine by me - I've been practicing.  My favorite high-intensity hues are just about everything in the L'Oreal HIP line, plus  Make Up For Ever's super-saturated Flash Color shadow pots.

Budget Luxury

Getting the latest looks on the cheap may take all the fun out of bragging about your new Marc Jacobs bag, but just imagine how excited your wallet and all the rent checks that don't bounce will be?

Although, if you need to sloooowwly wean yourself off those handbags, SheFinds has an amazing roundup of bags under $250 - and plenty that are way below $200.

Do It Yourself Beauty

At home waxing, hair coloring and laser hair removal?  You mean I'm going to have to paint my own toes, massage my own feet, and.....wax myself?  Take a peek at Sephora's roundup of at-home waxers, removers, and tech tools - best to get to know the DIY lines now.

Something tells me Bliss' new goof-proof Poetic Cosmetic Waxing Kit is in my near future.

Makeup as Jewelry:

Beauty products as fashion accessories...um, you know something?  Think I'll sit this one out.  Between the glitter shadow, the diamond dust and the fake eyelashes, there's just no more room on my face.

Unless, of course, they're talking about the only makeup I actually collect (but look at these cute pots, can you blame me??).

Bright Nail Colors

Bold nails are back?  Did they leave?  I'm spending my whole summer in China Glaze and Wet N Wild.  Or does this just mean I'm fabulously ahead of the trends?

Messy Updos and Buns

Sloppy chic, messy buns, half-done ponytails.  It's a hard look to honestly pull off without a ton of product in your hair, some practice, and at least some natural curl or texture to your locks...but when you're finally finished,  nothing says, "I'm so laid back" like a finger-curled updo.

Organic Beauty

Go green without sacrificing quality.  As every reader of this blog now knows, I'm all over trying to spell out, pronounce, and at least not be afraid of what's lurking in my makeup bag.  Sans chemistry degree, it's gonna be a long road, but I'd like to think the payoff is going to be pretty fabulous.

Real Women Have Curves

Love your body.  Ladies, come on.  Did we need WWD to tell us this?

I am a big sucker for makeup as jewelry...everytime i see a pretty compact or something i have to have it even if i dont need it. Pathetic i know. lol. I also have tried to wax at home and it was quite a mess.

My style seems too classic to rock the neon nail colors though i am aching to give it a try...the most wild i get with my nail colors is red.

...and i love the messy updo. tyring that one soon.

I see self-waxing in my future too.

My manicurist always has tone of China Glaze colors for me to pick from.
