Cropped black cigarette pants with a black turtleneck? You're Audrey Hepburn. Two or three spray cans of Mystic Tan? Paris Hilton. A dress cut so low you can see the matchy-matchy kickpants? Jennifer Lopez. A boyfriend who stages obnoxious photo ops? Heidi Montag. You get the idea.

The easiest, though, to pull off has got to be Amy Winehouse's signature cat eye and beehive. If that's a look you're after, TotalBeauty has a great tutorial on The Amy Look. Even if it's most definitely not a look you're after, you can still use the liquid liner tips to doctor up a Liz-Taylor-as-Cleopatra-look.
1. Start by applying your usual foundation and concealer. Skip the blush or bronzer. A pale look is best.
2. Begin lining your eyes with liquid or gel eyeliner (try MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, $15) using a fine-tip eyeliner brush. Start at the inner corners of your eyes and extend the line outward until it almost reaches your brow. Then bring that line back down so that you create a long thin triangle shape at the corners of your eyes (Amy's signature). Then thicken the line along its entire length. (You want it to be visible when your eyes are open so the thicker the better.) Keep your eyes closed for a minute after applying the liner to allow it to dry.
3. Line your bottom lash lines with a brown powder shadow (try CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Brown Smolder, $2.99) using an angled liner brush.
4. Top off this classic Amy Winehouse look by slicking on a sheer pink gloss (try Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Natural Shine Lip Gloss in Sweet Pink, $7.99).

Personally I don't know if I love or hate Amy Winehouse; I usually hate her, but in some weird way I dig her style! One girl nearby has faked Amy's make-up and hairstyle (as a neater version..), and she looks stunning. I love this eye make-up on rock'n'roll chicks!
I'm loving this cat-eye makeup trick, but same here: NOT going as Amy Winehouse. I'll be turning this look into a Cleopatra look.
I love the cat eye look a la Angelina or Sophia Loren. But I want to look as little like Amy as possible. She's a monster!
