I'm not a gamer (wait, does Wii count?), so news from Nintendo isn't usually anything I care about. Until I hear that Nintendo is going the handheld beauty consultant route.
Sega teamed up with cosmetics giant Shiseido to offer makeup tips on the Nintendo DS.
The game, called Project Beauty, will go on sale November 27 in Japan. This isn't like making up an avatar you create, either - Nintendo is serious about this. The game is used with a scanning device that feeds digital images of the user's face into the DS, which analyzes the shape and position of the eyes, lips and other parts.
The software, priced at $55 USD including the scanning device, matches faces with one of four groups - cool, active, cute or feminine.
It would then show a user's face with no make-up on one screen and a proposed make-over on the other.
"The same user can have a variety of make-up tips for different occasions such as business, dating or formal gatherings. You would find colours that are good on you but you never realised before," Sega spokeswoman Rei Sugiyama said.
"The new software targets women in their 20s and 30s," she said, noting that the Nintendo DS has attracted many users, "including children, elderly people and women who were not considered core game players."
For users who want to choose their own makeup, they can simulate a full make-over by selecting different shades of colors and other details of the foundation, blusher, mascara, lipstick and other makeup.
Now, I'm a gal who can apply and put on her own face just fine, but I'm still curious about this. Makeover a virtual me? You bet - here's hoping this comes stateside soon!
Would you?

Tech like this barely ever makes it to the US ... but it's easy to find through import stores and online stores. I can't wait to get my hands on a Japanese version!
omgh yess!!
OMG!!!! First of all, I love my Nintendo DS because it has games I can finally play without great hand and eye coordination. (You should try Imagine Fashion Designer, it's like Project Runway. Also, Phoenix Wright Attorney is Law & Order. Finally, Brain Age is great for sharpening your brain.) I would love to have this game! With little young'uns running around and tugging at my legs, I can hardly get my regular face on let alone try a new look.
