Fight Cancer Two Eyes At A Time

Cancer sucks.  Especially when it affects your friends.

When she found out she had breast cancer, Sephora's marketing V.P. Betsy Olum went straight to her closest friends for support.  One of those pals:  Too Faced makeup co-founder Jerrod Blandino.

As her friend, Jerrod was determined to get her through her diagnosis with as much of her humor and sanity intact as possible. Although he promised to stick with her through chemo and doctor visits, midway through her battle he had an idea:  what if he could really help fight cancer in a big way?

That's where he got the idea to bring back Betsy's fave pink  (but long since discontinued) Too Faced shadow, "Heiress."  Renaming it Betsy Baby, he paired the sparkling shade with a toasted vanilla to create a shadow duo.

In honor of Betsy (and her recent cancer-free diagnosis...go, Betsy!), this comeback shade raises money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. $9 from every sale of the $17 shadow duo goes straight to the charity.

This month, I'm making an effort to give back with my purchasing power, supporting companies who are helping fight the fight.  Join me? This shadow duo is online now through the end of October (aka Breast Cancer Awareness Month), and will be available at Sephora stores all month long.

If pink shadow isn't your thing, Glamour magazine has a whole lineup of picks that give back gorgeously.

Cancer does suck, and I've known too many people personally who have been diagnosed or has succumbed to cancer. My grandmother, before her death, was a breast cancer survivor. (She went on to die from a bone cancer.) So I walk every year in my local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. My co-workers and my friends sponsor me.

Cancer does suck. And breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the U.S. So this month, take the time to get either a breast exam (if you're younger) or a mammogram (if you're 40 or older). Also check out the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Web site:
