If you're a Sparkle*Shelf regular, you know one thing for sure: We. Love. Dry. Shampoo.
My fave is Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo (side note: my fave imaginary boyfriend is also Oscar Blandi. We feed each other grapes and champagne, and he gives me a to die for haircut to prove his love. Ok, what was I talking about?). His formula is so light locks don't get bogged down, plus you can't beat the scent: it's made with actual honeysuckle and flowers, and your hair smells exactly like a flower shop. Mmmm.
In a pinch, though, I'll use plain old Johnson & Johnson's Baby Powder dusted into my roots. But Beauty Bunny has a few awesome tips for DIY dry shampoo formulas that are for different hair types. Her best trick, though: If you have dark hair, sub out the powders in her recipes with cocoa powder. <insert sound of hand slapping forehead and a round of, "Why didn't I think of that sooner??">
Combine ingredients. Massage into the oiliest parts of your hair and let the powder absorb the oil. Then, brush and shake out your hair to remove the mixture.
Mix ingredients in a small bowl. Massage 1 tsp. of the dry shampoo mixture into the scalp and then brush it out thoroughly. Repeat if hair still feels greasy. Note: Cornmeal has the largest granules of any of the base powders listed here. Make sure to brush your hair very thoroughly after using it.
Combine ingredients in a jar and shake to blend. Dust hair with the shampoo, massage gently into the scalp, then brush out.

Thank you for the great DIY ideas! I usually use baby powder with cornstratch, but it tends to leave a weighed down and smelly (!) after effect.
