I gotta tell ya, I had a terrible time picking ‘Best Dressed’ contenders from the People's Choice Awards 2009, as most of the people there were more suited for Katierose’s Worst Dressed column. I’m always shocked and bewildered when these nominees show up in bad outfits because there are plenty of talented stylists in this world that need work and, obviously, plenty of stars and wannabe stars that need help getting dressed. Ugh.
Drum roll please…..
Hated It!!
I have to begin with Jessica Stroup, a chick that my pal Katie gave a shout out to for a great dress. Personally, I think this dress is awful. Jessica has a dream face, beautiful hair and nice makeup, so it is such a shame that her hideous dress shouts, ‘Welcome to my nightmare!’ Too many colors, the weird double side straps and the misplaced flower thingy add up to a big fat zero in my book. Really more like a negative 10!
I love Reese’s red nails and lips and her LBD is fine, while not show-stopping. (I told you – I am having a hard time getting excited about these outfits, people!!)
Carrie Underwood has a great stylist because she consistently looks good at awards shows and seems to nail the fashions without looking too countrified, if you know what I mean. The orange color is very flattering on her skin and her hair and makeup look pretty and appropriate.
Katherine Heigl looks chic and gorgeous in her black pantsuit. I guess the black pantsuit is the new thing as Anne Hathaway wore one to her NYC ‘Bride Wars’ premiere and I saw a recent photo of Kate Winslet rocking one, too. Katherine’s hair looks glam with the
double headbands I wrote about recently and I give her extra points for her super fly shoes!
I can say that I like Jewel’s dress, but I don’t know that it was so appropriate for this occasion. At least it does not look really cheap, like some of the dresses worn that evening. I am floored that a few of the dresses look like they are made out of ultra low grade fabrics ~ so, so tacky! I remind you that in the spirit of full disclosure I warned in the first paragraph that finding a group of ‘best dressed’ people at this event has been like pulling teeth!

Hey Katie!!! :) Yes opinions make the world go round and the fact that their are conflicting ones keeps life interesting! Love all your informative posts and am so glad you are here on sparkle*shelf...XO and Happy 2009!!
Hahahaha And I suppose that just goes to show you that some of fashion is really personal taste. I'm not sure what it is but there is something about Jessica's dress that I love. I agree with you on all the rest. Nothing show stopping but a couple great looks. Katherine Heigl looked great.
