Who or what has most influenced your style, and why?

Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn, and Lance Armstrong.
Elegance personified, and a little Iowa jock thrown in.  I like my pretty 1940s dresses but I love my Nikes.

What trends and designers do you love right now?

I love love love my UGGS, I don’t care how yesterday they are.  And comfy sundresses from my ZJ’s surf shop, and then long soft Hurly tees from the guys' side.  And Miss Sixty jeans make the backside all the better.

What was your style like in High School?

It varied. I was constantly redefining my style on a daily basis.  My mom wouldn’t let me read Seventeen or Marie Claire, certainly not Vogue (gasp!).  But I would sneak them into my room and shut my door and look at them every night. Instead of doing homework, for at least an hour, I’d find the outfit I wanted to copy, and then try to pull off the outfit from my mom or my closet. Every night.  Sometimes I was the granola cruncher, sometimes the grunge queen, sometimes I sported the skanky Billy Idol androgynous look.

What's your favorite bargain item in your closet?

Black v-neck tee for $4.

What beauty products are in your bag right now?

Random lip glosses.  I have big lips, and I lose the glosses all the time, they go through the dryer a lot because I stick them in my pockets.  That’s about it.  Lip gloss.  Or Vaseline. Which works as a lip gloss. Or eye moisturizer.  Or hand moisturizer.

You're on a trip and the airline lost your luggage. What 3 items do you rush out to buy right away?

Jammies, black tee shirt, black pants, flippy flops.  Wait, that’s four.  Combine the tee shirt and black pants into a long black shirt I can wear as a dress.  There’s three. But if I liked the clothes I was wearing, I’d go for hygiene.  Toothpaste (I could brush with my fingers), contact solution, and Dove conditioner--I’d use hotel soap to wash my hair.    This is a difficult question…Why three, oh God, why only three items?

Have you changed your personal style along with your success?

No way.

What's the most surprising thing you've learned in your profession so far?

I didn’t have to get a nose job to get work.

What are 3 things most people don't know about you?

  1. I get turned on in Staples in the Day Planner section.
  2. I want to be George Clooney.
  3. I have seven surfboards.

Any words of wisdom for those trying to break into your profession?

Don’t give up.  Don’t sacrifice who you are because that’s all you got.  You don’t have to get a nose job if you don’t want. Jimmy Durante worked all the time.
