How-To Apply Mineral Foundation: Tips from Nathan Johnson

We all know that Mineral Foundation is insanely popular these days.  By now most of us have tried a few times, or maybe you love it and use it daily!  But did you know there is a correct way to apply Mineral Foundation to get that flawless look everyone raves about?

Our fabulous makeup artist friend Nathan Johnson put together a very detailed how-to from preparing the skin to finishing touches. What I love about Nathan's articles is that he provides the nitty gritty details, PLUS specific product information.  

According to Nathan...   "As with pretty much everything else, there is a fast way to apply loose minerals and a slightly lengthier way. Neither way is right or wrong, but, I’ll tell you this, the additional steps do tend to lead to a better, longer lasting and more natural pay off. Below you will find the complete instructions, but if you want a faster and easier route skip any steps that don’t fit into your lifestyle."

The basic steps are:

1. Prepare the Canvas
   1. Cleanse
   2. Moisturize
   3. Prep
2. Apply the Foundation
   1. Load up the brush
   2. Apply to the face
   3. Conceal

Though this may not be earth shattering news, you must check out his detailed instructions for each step.  I love his product recommendations for every step (complete with price).  And thanks for letting me know to conceal after applying the foundation, I was doing that before, oops!
