Comb It Like An Egyptian: The Cleopatra
"Give me the Cleopatra!" were the first words out of my mouth when I visited my hairdresser last weekend. After almost 20 years in the biz putting up with nutjobs like me, he's pretty unflappable. As in, didn't even stop flipping through his People magazine as he said, "Liz Taylor or Vivian Leigh?"

This is why I love this guy.
My goal was the blunt-but-not-too-short bangs with straight-down-the-sides hair. As in, none of the Kate Moss/Heidi Klum "bangs with layered side-fringe" (not that you both don't look fabulous, girls).
The original plan that morning had been some sort of choppy bob, but that day I was wearing my fabulous new Sephora Flashy Liner in Vivid Turquoise, which I'd flicked out at the edges ala the Grande Dame Taylor herself in the actual movie Cleopatra.
Plus, raise your hands, anyone who's had a choppy bob before: it is me, or do those stop looking good the second you leave the hairdresser? I think my hair's too thin to pull that trick off.
Anyway, a few inches and a set of bangs later (ok, and some blonde dye. I'm also done with the chocolate brown thing), I got my Cleopatra.
Only without even half as much cool gold jewelry.

Love the bangs...you look FAB
i agree, looks great! love your color too.
They look great! Are they a lot of work to deal with in the AM? My hair is fine and I feel like without styling - I'm remembering a large round brush and a blow dryer, or even dare I say, a curling iron - to get my bangs of the 80's to look like "they should". I've had the same long one length hair for over 15 years. I am just soooo chicken to cut but soooooo love Reese's bangs. Insight is appreciated. Thanks for the quick reply too.
I keep these babies cut short (grazing my eyebrows). In the morning, I get them slightly wet, apply mousse to the tips, then blown dry straight down. Easy! And the mousse keeps them from blowing all weird directions (I commute on foot in foggy ol San Fran, so this is big).
