Michelle Obama's Star Style on The View

Michelle Obama proves once again that she is a Political Fashion DO! She appeared on The View as a guest host on June 18, 2008, and looked absolutely perfect.

Following up on Ann's First Ladies of Style article, Michelle Obama shows us she's  a woman after our own heart... she likes fashion and she likes to look pretty!

I normally will never admit that I watch The View (even though I do, haha), but I had to check it out today. It was great to see Michelle Obama in a very casual atmosphere.  Michelle entered the stage, and right off the bat, she fist-bumped the whole View Gang saying, "That’s the new high five." Go Michelle!

Barbara hit on several hot issues in the media, and Michelle handled herself extremely well giving some excellent answers.  Michelle Obama has a very cool, natural and confident way about herself, without seeming like she's trying too hard. Love it!

Of course, it IS The View, so they discussed some light, non-political topics, like panty hose, and fashion.  Michelle discussed all that women have to do in order to look put together and "ready" for the day... compared to men who can throw on a suit and they're out the door.  But she followed that up with my fave quote from the show... "It's fun to look pretty". Yay! I think all Sparkle*Shelf'ers would agree 100% with that!

She also said that she did away with wearing pantyhose long ago saying, "It feels better... I stopped wearing pantyhose years ago because it's painful!"

The Wardrobe

Michelle showed up in a fun, elegant outfit. She rocked a sleeveless black & white floral dress by Donna Ricco, complete with an adorable little flower pin. Way to embrace the flower trend Michelle!

The dress was a perfect length just below her knees.  Not too risky, but not too conservative. Just the right length to say "Hey, I'm stylish, but elegant, check me out."  Michelle mentioned she also works closely with designer Maria Pinto.

It was extremely refreshing to see a woman in politics unafraid to look feminine and pretty.  She always looks great and appears so put together and confident. Just like  Barack Obama, she is a fresh, welcome change to politics.

If Hilary was more like Mrs. Obama, she might have gotten my vote.

btw - after the show aired, the dresses are supposedly flying off the rack. can't remember which news source reported it this weekend, but the designer literally became an overnight sensation, w/tons of new dress orders coming in.

  4. I don't know that I care for that dress.. there's somethin about it that rubs me wrong. I think shes way stylish though.

  5. Finally a political woman who doesn't look like pure death and grimace.

  6. PS: Check out the picture on the cover of this week's Newsweek of Cindy McCain (eek!). Michelle Obama looks great!
