Product Review: Max Factor Lipfinity 3D Maxwear Lipcolor

This morning I got up early as my honey had to catch a plane. I saw the Max Factor Lipfinity 3D Maxwear Lipcolor in Mauve Sequence, that I had yet to test out, staring back at me from atop my dresser, and I decided there was no time like the present to put it to the test.

For those unfamiliar with this product it is a long wearing lipstick on one end with gloss on the other. The company says “The long wearing lowlight layer provides depth of color, while the highlighting gloss top coat adds moisturizing shimmer and shine. Together, they deliver a three-dimensional effect for lust worthy lip looks difficult to achieve with ordinary lip color!” Lust worthy, eh? Well my advice is ‘don’t make promises to cosmetic junkies that you can’t keep.’

As the coffee brewed and I vacuumed my living room (I love it when I can get some housework done before 8 am) I experienced the full on effect of the Step 1, the long wearing layer. I immediately noticed my lips did not feel dry or shrink wrapped, which is the feeling I liken to what most long wear lipstick feels like when I apply it. It is not pleasant. I hate it. Lipfinity 3D Maxwear Lipcolor did not give me this feeling.

I poured myself a cup o' java and let it cool its heels while I applied the glossy topcoat.  It felt creamy but not greasy like some lip glosses can. For the next few hours I proceeded to drink cup after cup of coffee, eat Protein Plus Special K and gab away on my phone. When I looked in the mirror I still had a touch of gloss left, and the under layer of lipstick still looked fabulous, holding its color and not coming off in flakes or pilling up like little balls on a sweater. As more time passed and I went through teeth brushing, the lipstick color remained on my lips with more of a stain type look. Had I been going out I could’ve just whipped out a refresher coat of gloss and skipped applying Step 1, as I was still pleased with the color.

I like this as a long wear lipstick because it did not make my lips feel all dry and weird and the color did remain way after the gloss disappeared, in a tone that I approved of.

You likey? I might want to try that next - I LOVE lipstains and stay-put lipsticks. Also: vacuuming? At 8 am?
