As an immigrant to the United States my late grandfather, Diego de Ayora, went from working in a lamp factory to becoming the vice president of Max Factor cosmetics. I have certainly inherited his eye for all things beauty and makeup. Flipping through this month’s Elle magazine, I came to a screeching halt when I set eyes on this Max Factor flop-of-a-campaign.
This wild Native American number mismatches flawlessly with the sonic colors of Carmen Electra's eye shadow. I suppose that this look could be to promote shades for the universal women, as though no matter what you’re wearing, these neon lids will match perfectly. Yikes! Gross! Wrong! I can’t imagine just who this look would appeal to, but I’m dying to find out.
I'm not sure if Electra's stylist was in the Bahamas the day of the shoot, or if the power was cut to her dressing room, but
this is just frightening.
Maybe Carmen Electra and her Max Factor cosmetics crew are misunderstanding earthy tones with their Native American threads and Northern Tanzanian palette names.
Carmel Icing MAXwear Lip Color: This reminds me of those soccer moms that were always dressed a little too sexy for the games.
MAXeye Liner Night Club (black): Around the world we continue to travel with this look that appears to span hemispheres and time. These luscious eyelines a la Amy Winehouse may be the cherry atop this confusing sundae, but also may be the only thing that I would attempt to mimic on myself.

What do you all think? Am I being too harsh? Maybe, not hard enough! Let me know what you think of this Max Factor hot mess:

She does look like shit, but the colors and the outfit are fun IMO. Too harsh! But I'd rather too harsh than a boring article, so great post!
Yes, the ads do suck and they are tacky yet they make me want to try the colors because I am a sucker for trying out bright eyeshadows. (I also have a soft spot for tacky.) I bought the Queen Bee MF exotics eyeshadow when it first came out and the colors weren't vibrant at all! I was so disappointed. I still want to try the mascara, though.
The lipgloss pictures look great! Will my lips look as colorful and glossy as the ones on the website? I'm curious to try the Midori Gold glam and Dominatrix Red.
PLUS: Those MaxEye shadows are horrible. Foras vibrant as they look in the ocntainers (and as clownish as they look on poor Carmen Electra) they are WIPEOUTS on a face.
one word: trashy...that's all i think when i see those ads. they must have hired some white trash makeup artists with no training and let them go wild. so awful!
God, how about those ads where they have her in, like, gold mascara? She consistently looks like crap -- but it's not her fault. What are Max Factor thinking??
Who'd they hire as the makeup artist? Winehouse? Awful waffle!

I completely agree. I always see those ads in magazines with Carmen Electra and think, "yeah right!" Those ads suck and Carmen's eye makeup looks like shit in that photo you posted. I wish they'd pick other colors and other models to pose for their ads.
