We’ve all heard this, that and the other about hair, how to make it grow, how to make it thick, how to keep it from turning green after being in a swimming pool, etc. Here is the plain truth about some common hair myths, and you might learn something!
-Frequent trims make hair grow faster. This is not true. Common growth rate is half an inch per month for most people. Frequent trims will keep split ends at bay and keep hair looking thick and healthy all over.
-Split ends can be repaired. What a cruel joke to play on a person! Hair strands that are split can never be repaired. They can only be trimmed off, so get on a schedule with your haircuts so you never run the risk of getting them!
-If you shave your head you hair will grow back thinner. Well, let’s ask Britney about this one. This is just plain silly. I can’t imagine who started such a ridiculous bit of ugly gossip, and I hope Britney did not buy into it!

-Coloring your hair during pregnancy is harmful. Casi Morris, president of
casi morris creative, a beauty and lifestyle consulting firm in the Los Angeles area, says, "While I'm not a doctor, the majority of medical professionals do agree that coloring hair during pregnancy is not harmful. A conservative approach taken by some doctors is the recommendation of waiting until the end of their first trimester before coloring. Others will offer alternatives, such as highlighting or semi-permanent color. However, the general consensus still seems to be that it is more myth than reality. As always, each individual should consult with her doctor and make the decision that is best for her."

-100 brush strokes a day are good for your hair. Um, no. Excessive brushing can put stress on your hair and if it is chemically treated, that is the last thing you need. Brushing also activates oil glands, so over brushing can give your hair a limp look. My advice is to use a
good quality brush, brush your hair into the style you want and leave it alone.
-If you shampoo everyday, it is drying to your hair and scalp. Wrong. If you need to shampoo daily, for whatever reason, that is your business, just use a mild shampoo that designed for your hair type. If you use the correct shampoo, you can wash all you want and never have a dry scalp or dry hair. I use dry shampoo as I am too lazy to shampoo everyday.
-If you pull out a gray hair, two gray hairs grow back in. Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha! That is pretty funny! Not true at all. I can’t even elaborate on this myth, so just trust me.
-Hair develops immunity to the same shampoo over time. Another myth! There is no hard evidence this is true. People change shampoos because they like trying new products in most cases and are constantly seduced by ads and magazine editorials about the latest and greatest new shampoo. What’s important is finding a shampoo that works for your hair and scalp.
Don’t believe everything you read or hear about your hair! If you have doubts or questions consult your stylist or research the information on your own. Take care of the hair you wear and take time to debunk hair myths!
i thought the pregnancy thing had more to do with the inhaling of the chemicals? as far as i know, as long as yer in a well-ventilated area, yer all good.
Hair coloring during pregnancy has to be one of the funniest hair myths. I was like, what's the connection between hair and pregnancy anyway? That's pretty dumb really. Unless Britney's kids grow up to be hair freaks...
i've literally had arguments w/stylist over the "shampoo everyday no-no" myth. they would always say "you only think your hair is dirty." no, after a full day walking around a pollution-filled, humid, grimy city, i'm quite certain my hair is dirty.
fix split ends?? who said that? dumbest lie if i've ever heard one!!!
