Style Icon: Daisy Lowe

Daisy LoweWhen I first saw Daisy Lowe, it was photos of her topless with boyfriend Will Blondelle in i-D mag.  The model is the daughter of Gavin Rossdale (He was her Godfather until paternity results confirmed she was his biological offspring) and Pearl Lowe from the band Powder.  She's young, a little bit controversial, and one of the best dressed gals on the scene.

Daisy Lowe has modeled for Urban Outfitters and lingerie company Agent Provocateur.  Whether modeling in mags, on the runway, or just out and about, her look is sugar and spice and everything nice, and in the best way.  Seen often with dark-rimmed eyes and lips that look as though they may have just been stained with popsicle, her look is so unapologetically feminine that it's undeniably bad ass.

I am a huge fan of Daisy's hair here, and my own style mimics her dark locks with short bangs.  Not too trendy emo mall girl and not too hipster, smooth but slightly wavy hair is romantic and generally low-maintenance.  Bust out your cut-off tee while it's still summer and therefore appropriate.  Wording on shirts can be a faux pas if you'll wear just anything, so discriminate and choose a message that really suits you.

I love Daisy's classic pumps, especially with shorts.  I was just saying to my boyfriend how much I adore the line basic old school pumps give the leg -- so much more feminine and chic than the current trendy wedges and peep-toes in my opinion.  To freshen up this look, pair your pumps with a pair of cuffed shorts and a basic top.  Rather than the high waist, shorts that fit just under the navel will eliminate any appearance of a poochy belly and will look overall less skanky than low-rise daisy dukes.

Daisy Lowe at the SATC London Premiere

Daisy showed up at the London Sex and the City Premiere in this white dress with just a pop of pink topped in a basic black blazer and minimalist all-black bag.  The pink gives just a pop of color, and the white shoes over black tights really make this outfit stand out.  Worn under a short dress like this - not under a denim skirt - demonstrates the proper way to pull off tights.  I love that the shoes are almost childlike - they remind me of the buckled dress shoes I wore at five - but turn instantly hip and sexy when giving a boost to the long silhouette of her legs.

For summer, find a dress like this that's long enough to wear with bare legs.  If in doubt about the length, sit, squat and touch your toes before leaving the house.  Tousled hair and just a touch of blush or bronzer plus mascara is perfect for warm weather.

Stay on the lookout for Daisy Lowe's classic yet custom style.
