The Aggy: new hair trend gets Deyn's list honors

Agyness Deyn's hairstyle is cropping up all over the place.

Uh oh. Bob may have some competition for top coiff. Because across the pond, British birds are flocking to salons asking for "The Aggy," a style British Vogue (no, not Queen Wintour) has declared "the defining hairstyle of the decade."

The short, sometimes scruffy, peroxide crop is named after Burberry model Agyness Deyn, who has been rocking her trademark cut which was created two years ago for a Mario Testino shoot. Lately, London salons are cutting The Aggy about a dozen times a day - two or three of them going for the platinum look (thank tha lawd, Speidi finally has a raison d'être).

So far, only a couple of celebs have adopted the look, or a variation of it, including Selma Blair, Mena Suvari (pictured above), and Elisha Cuthbert. As well as celebuspawn Kimberly Stewart and Pixie Geldof (pictured below).

It looks intimidating to pull off, but there seem to be quite a few variations. Smooth it down to glam it up. Scruff up heavier fringe for an edgy punk princess look. Or go super short and spiked for a sophisticated androgynous look.

Time will tell if The Aggy catches on in the Atates like it has in the UK. I’m going to go out on a limb and offer a cautious “no.” I think it's a tough look to pull off unless you have great bone structure. And even then, you'll still need serious 'tude to really own it.

I hate this haircut. I suppose certain girls can pull this off but I'm all about long crazy hair. :)

I kinda like it. It's me before the brush in the a.m. I hopped over from lovemomworklife blog and love your blog. Great fun!

I HATE this haircut. Or is it the way too harsh 80s acid-rocker color I hate? Aggy always looks like she slept on her hair, overslept, and didn't have enough time to tamp stickie-ups down.

If I decided to chop-chop like this, I like Rihanna's wave/rockabilly chop, not this messy weird 'do.

bren - i totally agree, this cut doesn't look like a different variation from what i've seen in the past. not to mention, she's had this cut for 2 yrs now. which made it even more surprising that it's just now getting so much press in the uk.

Pshhh.... Been there, done that. It's as boring as the bob. I'm bringin' back the Shag/Joan Jett look next! Hahaha. But forreals; love this cut. Rocked it through most of high school. I loves it, cause it's sooo low maintenance yet totally high fashion.

It's just a matter of attitude - if you can't carry it, don't have that cut.

but i digress, i love it! I've saved the photos to show my stylist :)

I've been trying to grown my hair out from the Katie Holmes for months. Now you've got me thinking about running in and beginning for an "Aggy." Danger!

I have the 'tude but not so much the bone structure. Love this style! American girls (who aren't really into fashion or punk) will never understand this look.
