Zoom It, Spin It, Scrub It, Zap It: Beauty Technologic

Digital SLR cameras, iPhones, and hybrid cars aren’t the only ones making technological innovations. With High-Def taking over the airwaves and digital photos that open in extreme close-up, even the hottest stars are vulnerable to having every little blemish magnified. To make technology work for you instead of against you for your next YouTube video or FaceBook profile pic, check out these savvy tools.

Even Better Than the Real Thing

CARGO blu_ray™ Pressed Powder, $30

Created for HD filming, the blu_ray™ collection uses photochromatic pigments for a flawless yet natural look. In plain English: the ultra-fine minerals fill lines and the light-dispersing properties soften your complexion. I tried this powder out, and it did make my skin look flawless. But also a little pasty. This is a finishing powder, but I am not so sure about one color fitting all. For $59, you can get the whole Limited Edition collection which includes mattifier, mascara, powder, blush, and lipgloss palette – basics that promise to make you camera-ready, even in HD.

Spin Me Right Round

SpinLash Mascara, $14.95

I used SpinLash and my lashes were noticeably longer and fuller! Okay, so I didn’t get the full fringe like in the photo, but for my shorty lashes the results were a big deal. SpinLash’s main attraction is the rotating brush that gently spins as you apply mascara to remove clumps, separate, lengthen and volumize lashes. This package comes with mascara in a cool tube that minimizes wasting product, but you can also use the brush with your fave lash lengtheners! In love with fiber mascara? Pump up the volume by pairing it with this gentle spinner.

It's Supersonic

ClariSonic® Skincare Brush, $195

Neutrogena Wave Power-Cleanser, $14.99

Is brushing your face as great as brushing your teeth? The creators of Sonicare® think so. Sonic frequency moves the ClariSonic® face brush more than 300 times per second to effectively remove impurities, and allow moisturizers to absorb better. With continued use, the brush should improve complexion, smooth out skin, and make pores appear smaller. This product has reviewed well, but I’m not sure I’m ready to shell out the cash. Though, if it does what it claims to do, you can cut costs on facials. If you’re ready to make the jump, consider buying the pink one – proceeds benefit breast cancer awareness and research!

For the non-commital types that are curious about the effectiveness of face brushing, give Neutrogena Wave™ a try. It utilizes a similar principle, at a fraction of the cost, but uses disposable foaming pads.

The Heat is On

Zeno Pro Acne Clearing Device, $35-$159

no! no! Hair Removal Concept, $250

Zeno zaps zits using heat at a pre-set temperature, and lets you tackle pimples head-on without causing skin damage. The heat shocks the bacteria that cause most acne blemishes and breaks down the lesion. This is another pricey device, but can offset trips to the dermatologist and be a lifesaver for those inevitable zits that pop up right before a big day.

The technology behind no! no! is also heat-driven. Thermicon transfers gentle pulses of heat to remove unwanted hair with minimal pain and hassle. Unlike razors, you can use no! no! without waiting for hair to grow to a certain length and you can forget about nicks, cuts and irritation. Get the pro treatment at home!

This makes me anxious to read, just thinking about what the camera could be seeing on my face!

Unsightly hair is the worst. Have you tried the no! no! hair-remover? The worst thing IMO is waiting for hair to grow in long enough to wax.

I am really curious about the NO NO too! I abhor shaving and waiting for my hair to grow in so i can wax it away. My skin is super sensitive and i get little red bumps on my bikini line no matter what i do!!! i just dont think that i can bring myself to shell out the cash for something i cant be sure is even going to work. plus the thought of smelling burning hair...i just dont know about this one.

I've been saving up for the clarisonic brush.....I have to say its only been three days but I can already tell a difference in my face. It was SO worth the price already. My skin is smoother and I have less red blotches on my face.....I cant wait to see how much my face improves....WELL worth the money so far!

I want to try the NoNo because I'm tired of tweezing all of my chin hairs every week, but I'm too cheap to put down the $250 for it. I'd rather buy some sexy shoes and a snazzy purse.

I'm curious to try the Spinlash mascara and the Clearisonic brush (though I doubt I'll ever be able to justify spending that much on a skin brush!). LOL

Yesterday I saw Estee Lauder's vibrating mascara?! http://www.glamboulevard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/el_turbolash1.jp... That just seems like a mess waiting to happen. Wonder how this compares to SpinLash...

Will the No No work on a beard? I'm tired of the cold water at 5 in the morning just to get razor burn, knicks and irritated skin afterwards. How bout some research on those issues to help a brother out. So as not to freak all the ladies out, sorry, I don't check this site for myself, I like to read my wifes writing!

Sincerely,

The Mr.

I haven't tried the no! no! yet. I have too many things on my wish list right now, so spending $250 on this probably not happening any time soon! Sigh. But yes, the thought of less maintenance is very appealing.
