Nancy Reagan made red suit dresses smart-chic. Jackie O is still considered to be one of the nation’s most influential style icons. Ladies-in-waiting Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama have spreads in Vogue. It’s too early to tell if Michelle Obama will wear the title of First Lady, but while everyone is commenting on the fist bump heard around the world (and Barack giving her a “good game”) I’m noticing her hot outfit.
Her royal purple, sleeveless shift dress was cinched at the waist with a trendy wide black belt. She wore oversized pearls, a clever twist on a old classic, and pointy-toed heels. The fist bump and thumbs up? She has got it going on!
Aside from being highly accomplished in her own right, she has handled the brutal demands of the campaign trail with grace and refreshingly authentic aplomb. What do I think is so fabulous about her fashion sense? She’s not trying too hard. Appearance certainly isn’t everything, but a polished look does exude confidence and an eye for detail.
So far, her staples have been sheath dresses and elegantly tailored suits, with minimal make-up. If she takes up residence in the White House, we’re sure to see some great taste served up with great change.

I do like her style. That purple is a great color on her. You can wear a shift and look great or look dowdy. She rocks it.
Totally agree, one foxy lady. She manages to look conservative but fun, never boring.
Yep, she rules. Simple and chic and still very appropriately trendy.
I heart her, knuckle bump and all.
Am always loving your posts Anne. Well done - as usual...
