Captain Planet Was Sexy : Eco-friendly Bags

Remember back in the day when those nerdy women would go to the library and get a bag full of books? I’ve always wanted to have important studious missions so I could use one of those bags. Well, now I have my nose forever in some science book, and thank God the bags have gotten cuter and more eco-friendly. Now Kris won’t yell at me about global warming so much.

Ok, so here’s my thinking.

We all know about my love for design and pure color as well as my obsession with accessories,  right? Well, I also have a love bi-proxy of saving the world from global warming. Why can’t I find some way to do both? Further more, why can’t eco-friendly bags be used for something other than buying cans of soup and paper towels? Well, here it is folks, the cutest damned bags that are multi-use, and reusable.

Envirosax has a good point. “Consider a world in which all people were content to simply ignore their ecological footprint on the world. There would have been no David Attenborough, no WWF, no solar panels, no dolphin-free tuna and no alternative to the average of 500 plastic shopping bags used by individuals each year.” That’s a lot of discarded plastic. But don’t think Envirosax is just going to give you bad news without something lovely to chase it down with. With prints so cute you can use them as your day to day bag, Envirosax helps me look adorable and save the world all in one big swoop. Love, love love multiuse. Check out the Mikado Singles, the Retro Kitchen Singles or my personal favorite the Monochrome singles. What’s even better? If you can’t decide which to buy? You can buy the whole set in one easy to store pouch.

For a little more flair, how about an environmentally friendly clutch? Jutes designed hippy chic handbags for the Planeteer with cocktail parties to go to for The Ecoist, made out of veggie fibers and completely closable with a few little compartments for whatever you need in your purse. The Eyes handbag is available early sometime this month, and I’m already waiting in line

I’m a metal girl at heart, and I’ve even found something for that, too. Shoulder bags, messenger bags and a clutch all made by recycling the pull tabs from your soda cans. Not to mention they’re handmade in Brazil by some sexy Brazilian women’s co-op. So, get your metal on and support some rain-forest broads.

But this last one has to be my favorite. Cute totes made from recycled rice and feed bags! You can fit almost everything in them (hellloooo beach bag),  not to mention all prints are one of a kind, so you’ll never have the same bag as another beach-going adorable hippie.

I mean it ladies, do as much as you can. Even if you don’t care about the polar bears, you will care when all the good shopping in NYC is underwater.

I mention my friends in my articles...is this truly an issue? For me, one of the best things about this site is that it is like reading transcripts from friends talking about hair, beauty and fashion. We are all friends here, so mentioning friends in our articles is only natural.

Korey I like your posts a lot but am tired of you mentioning your friends. If we wanted to look at your meaningless myspace stuff, we would. Readers are trying to see what you have to say about fashion and beauty, not how great your friends are because they nag you about going green. Just saying. :/

Thanks a lot Korey! So I bought, like, all of them and now greener than ever, but broke...yet again.
