Naked Makeup: Naughty and Oh So Nice

I used to really be perplexed by nude lips, thinking they only served to make the person look dead, or at least like they were well on their way there. That was some years ago, before I got a clue about how to wear naked makeup successfully.

Have you feasted your eyes upon Minka Kelly in the new issue of In Style magazine? She stars in an article about naked/nude/natural makeup and she looks simply stunning ~ I could just eat her up! Funny enough, I’ve often read about how this natural look can be painstaking to achieve and that it actually takes more time and skill to get right than one might think.
I’m drawn to many of the products featured in the article. One that I actually got last week, before I ever had the pleasure of seeing it on lovely Minka, is the new Sukicolor Pure Cream Stain in Sandstone. I use this on my lips and my cheeks. Other nudie faves of mine include:

*Too Faced Glamour Gloss in Girls on Film (love, love, love this one!!)
*Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Gloss in Naked (they should have named this something else. The ‘glitter’ is hardly noticeable and had I not used this I would have thought of the glitter from kindergarten…big chunks of shiny stuff, which is not what is in the gloss. It’s great and you’ll love it.)

My lips have a very pink tone and I don’t really like to stray wildly from my lip color, as I feel freakish when I look in the mirror, so I tend to stick to pinky-nude colors for my nude days. All the lip things I have named here play well together and you can layer them any which way for a custom nude lip. And yes, I am so easily influenced that I did have to order the Josie Maran lip liner in Peach that they show in the article.

I am not a foundation wearer, per se. I might put on a little mineral powder if it is going to be a particularly sweltering day but since I discovered Florida Foam I just add a drop to my skin cleanser in the morning and it keeps me from shining all day. As for naked blush, the Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush in Limited Bare Nudes really rocks. It does this sort of magical contouring thing that brings out your cheekbones in the most natural fashion.

Now isn’t it nice to know that nude has you fully covered???

I am looking at it right now and I would say it is peachy pink. When I look at it the word nude does not come to mind. It has no brown or beige looking tones. I'm not sure why it is called sandstone. I love this stuff and use it often. I think suki sandstone is a color that lots of skin tones can wear successfully.

Saw this Suki blush in Instyle mag. LOVE the color.....but is the blush truly that color? You know how
you see something in a magazine and it ends up looking totally different......the website says that it's a baby pink color.....looks peachy nude in the magazine.
Since you own it, what color is it??? Peachy nude or baby pink??

I'm so on the Florida Foam trail now, I can never wear nude lips... I'm obviously doing it way wrong, since my lips match my skin and I look like I've been dead in a pond for a few days.

Great info. I'd never heard of the Florida Foam stuff, but I'm going to try it now!
