I currently use semi-permanent color. I go to the salon or use Clairol Natural Instincts at home. Sooner or later it looks like I am going to have to switch to the ‘real thing,’ permanent hair color, which I am not thrilled about.
All this back-story leads me to my blog topic for this post: great new shampoos and conditioners. In the past I have never really been particularly jazzed with any of the color-depositing shampoos and conditioners I’ve tried. I never thought they made my color look shinier or stretched my hair color dollars any further. That is, until I tried Ted Gibson Individual Color Shampoo and Conditioner
in Brazen Brown.
Toward the end of last year I got some highlights that I ended up hating, so I applied Natural Instincts and was happy being dark brown again. Ted Gibson Color Shampoo and Conditioner
truly did keep my color in check. I love that the products don’t smell really funky or stain your hands. They do stain your hair though, which is a good thing. I use this once or twice a week; a little goes a long way, too.
Another shampoo and conditioner duo I’m loving is the Alterna Hemp with Organics Shine Shampoo and Shine Conditioner
. Now, we all know that hemp is showing up in all sorts of products, beauty and otherwise. The Alterna formula smells deliciously fruity and the scent stays in your hair after you blow-dry -- woo hoo! With no sulfates in the shampoo and hemp in both to protect your hair from such blessings/curses as blow drying and flat irons, my hair feels soft and looks incredibly shiny when I use these. Using natural products whenever I can find ones that really work for me is something I’ve set my sights on.
As with any beauty product, everyone is different, has unique needs and expectations, and individual body chemistry, therefore what is the total bomb for me (in a good way) may really bomb with you (in a bad way). I am all about trial and error to find what is best for you and helps you get the results you’re looking for.
I’m certain that there are people who still use Prell and are really happy with it and think their hair looks really purdy. More power to those folks. Really.
